Well, that was fun!

We like to visit Clerkenwell Design Week every couple of years to see what’s new and meet our suppliers.  It’s always a vibrant and energetic trade fair, that allows us to catch up with some of our favourite suppliers as well as introducing us to new ones.

It was a long day, traveling down first thing in the morning and driving back in the evening after we’d had our fill of seeing beautiful products, materials and architecture, as well as soaking up some of the Clerkenwell atmosphere, which is always inspiring.

There were some great new products on display in the St James’s Church venue and the exhibition in the atmospheric subterranean Victorian prison.  These lights by Spark & Bell, made from recycled plastic were a favourite.

Unfortunately the heavens opened in the afternoon, but the team at Fritz & Fryer rescued us with coffee whilst showing off their new lighting designs, and just round the corner we had a good explore around the very beautiful deVOL showroom.

Keeping out of the rain, we took in the incredible architecture of the Palladian style Old Session House, and although the main atrium is incredibly beautiful and sympathetically refurbished, my heart fell for this sinuous back staircase with its continuous oak handrail and simple spindles.  What a beauty.
